8 weeks EASY that can accommendate a 22 months old toddler
« on: February 04, 2015, 04:35:48 am »
Hello everyone!

Need some suggestion on EASY for my 8 weeks old DD2.  I just start the challenge of 2 vs 1 SAHM this week as my mom went home and hubby went back to work.
DD2 has been somewhat easy on sleep (she is extremely difficult when OT, takes at least 4 freaking hours to finally stay asleep at bedtime) and I think she is on the sleeping more side, reaching 18 hours a day.  My question would be should I start repeat the Eat/Play/Sleep pattern or should I stick to the time to set her biological clock? She is quite easy on naps, but very difficult at bedtime (she wants to sleep but cannot stay asleep)

This is her previous schedule:
8:30/9:00 Wake up and nurse
10:00 Nap 1 (1.5-2 hrs)
11:30/12:00 Wake up and nurse
1:30 Nap 2 (usually wake every 40~50min for first 2~3 hours, nurse around 4:30pm and will nap til 6pm)
6:00 Wake up and nurse
7:30/8 Bedtime (sometimes she will take a catnap and bedtime will be 9pm)

I tried EASY today:
E 8:15
S 9:35

E 11:35 (I woke her awake and she was sleep nursing)
S 12:00 (woke at 1pm, again at 1:55pm then I napped with her til 3pm)

E 3:15 (I woke her awake and she was sleep nursing)
S 4:20

E 6:00
E 7:40
S 7:55 (woke once at 8:45, then nurse nurse nurse until finally fell asleep and stay asleep at 10:30)

Hi there, what is your toddler's routine?  Are there times you want to work around?

Honestly it's up to you whether you wake her or not.  You can do EAS cycles from WU time or you can start each day a similar time which may be easier if you have things to attend with your toddler.

Looking at your days I wonder if she has a bit of day-night reversal?  She is having some extremely long naps in the day so may be struggling to settle in the evenings as she doesn't have much awake time earlier on.

Have you read the EASY FAQs on getting started?  There are some links at the top of the board :)

Thanks jessmum46!  Yes I am just going to thru all the links right now.

My toddler routine:
7:00 Wake up
11:30 Lunch
12:15/30 - 2:30/3:00 Nap
6:00 Dinner
7:30 Bath
8:00 Bedtime

DD2 usually wakes at 1:30 and 4:30/5 (sometimes only 1 feed) for a feed at night and she constantly sleeps a 3-4.5 hours stretch at night. I am also wondering if she is a still day-night reverse, but her longest stretch sleep is always at night.

So for short naps that she wakes 45 min later, would it be UT?
Right now I often nurse a bit and hold her til she falls asleep, should I just put her down in her crib after swaddling her?

45 minute naps are a bit confusing, at this age they could be developmental in that she doesn't yet know how to easily transition between sleep cycles, but could also be UT or OT.  To be honest I would just be focussing on following cues at this age unless you start seeing a consistent pattern of short naps.

Shh pat is a great method for starting to teach LO to fall asleep in the crib without nursing.  You could start with maybe one nap per day (that's what I did for DS at this age) and then just take it from there?
