I guess what I mean is that while that paci may not be a "prop" I have a feeling when object permanence kicks in it will. Right now, at night, he sleep in a bassinet beside my bed. Once he is rolling over he will need to be in his crib at night. Sharing a room with big sister. While, I know they will likely wake each other up from time to time, I would prefer it to not be every 2 hours every night of the week. Sure, I don't KNOW that it will turn into a prop but isn't it best to nip it in the bud? I know it may be a few days transition for him but I don't think it'll be too bad since he has been taking all naps since birth in there. And won't weening from paci help him transition during naps?
This will probably be the only chance until June, as if I leave that LO I babysit alone for too long he is swinging from the chandeliers, iykwim? By then DS will be 7 months old and my guess a little more set in his ways and difficult. DD is pretty well behaved comparatively, I could probably even send her to her cousins for the first 2-3 days for the worst of it. Idk, I've never done shh/pat. DD was 100% dependent on me until she was 15 months. Then I did gentile removal and then worked up to sleep lady shuffle as she co-slept and nursed pretty much constantly at night. It took MONTHS. She was too old for shh/pat and pick up put down would have killed my back and probably would have mad her more and more angry.
