4 month old LO refusing to breastfeed
« on: March 29, 2015, 01:14:21 am »
Hi ladies my LO just turned 4 months. For the past couple of weeks she has been refusing to eat. I was on the three hour schedule with her and I tried waiting four hours instead and she still refuses. At night she'll eat for 20-30 mins but the during the day and in the morning she will only eat for 5 mins, 10 if I'm lucky. She's drooling a lot and sucking on her fingers but her gums do not look like she is teething. Any advice?thanks in advance
Ps. She hates the bottle. And won't take it either.

Is she content after a 5-10 min feed? They can get pretty darn efficient as they get older! My oldest only ever did 5-10 min feeds, she had better things to do than use up her A time eating.

Mine were fast with nursing as well. She may be getting enough and just nurses more leisurely at night when she is sleepy? Is she wetting diapers through the day and all of that?

this is the key question :) if she's happy in herself, doing wet and dirty nappies, then you know she's getting what she needs.  Babies won't go hungry, you would know all about it if she was.

Thank you ladies! She eats very well at night but cries and is very fussy during the day. I really don't think she's getting enough.  Today she went from7am till 3 without eating  She's very happy and is soiling her diapers. in the past when her eating habits were more on a routine she would never wake me at night. Now she is. It's so weird.

Does she have any other signs of reflux? Does she go on and off the boob, can't feed still?  Does she screaming and arch her back during feeds?  My reflux babies would always feed terribly in the day and great at night.
