Continue as we are? Not interested in solids
« on: April 21, 2015, 17:27:19 pm »
Unlike his big brothers, H has no interest in solids. He mostly won't open his mouth but if he does and gets food in his mouth he either won't close his mouth til it comes back out or he gags until he brings whatever went down back up. I've tried both finger foods and purees. So do I just keep offering once a day like I have been for a few weeks and then once he actually eats something add another meal? Also should I be offering different things at this point or can I just rotate a few things? I'm currently offering lunch when G and I eat. This is totally new territory for me since the others loved solids!

I would just continue as you are for a while. I wouldn't go to too much trouble preparing lots of different things, perhaps just some things you are already making you can offer as finger food or puree a bit of the family meal if you want purees (just the veg would be fine really) or some simple stewed apple or pear which only takes a few minutes. Things like yoghurt and cheese are easy to offer a small amount of without too much trouble too.

Was there any problem with tongue tie, allergy or reflux at all?

I've known a few LOs this age not particularly interested and suddenly at around 9 months don't stop eating.

You could try a different time of day, say an hour after the Wu milk to see if breakfast is more tempting.

I had already made a small batch of apples and baked a sweet potato and froze so I have those in the freezer. I hadn't thought about saving some veggies from dinner. No tongue tie or reflux...just not interested I guess!  Thanks for your help I'll carry on like we are and will try offering at breakfast time on the weekend.

Mine liked veg so I regularly saved a few bits from the night before for the next day lunch or snack etc.
