Varying BF times
« on: April 29, 2015, 18:26:48 pm »
My LO is 7 weeks today and has reflux, however that's pretty much under control now with meds.  My question is, he's getting about 9 feeds a day right now but his two morning feeds are SO short.  It's like he feeds for about 30 secs after my let down and that's it!  He's done in 2-3 minutes.  On average, his feeds only take about 6-8 minutes but this seems really, really short.  Could it be that if he has a big feed at 5:30/6am, it just carries him through for the first few hours of the day?  He is only waking once a night now to feed (the time varies).  I'm just worried because he fell from the 90th percentile to the 40th and we've finally got him back up and above his birth weight.  Has anyone else experienced this?

The lactation consultant at the hospital told me sometimes the just want a little drink to quench their thirst and not a whole meal every time.
If you are feeding as much as he likes then I'm sure it is fine.
