New at E.A.S.Y. with 5mo
« on: July 28, 2015, 18:01:30 pm »
Hi everyone! I'm new to TBW and the boards! I'm a second-time mom but never had a routine with my first and I think we really needed it.

It's been a little over a week since we've started getting our 5mo on EASY. She is EBF and was previously nursed to sleep and had no schedule whatsoever.

Our EASY is more like EAEASY because I'm very paranoid at my supply being affected by the longer time between feedings. We had a lot of BF issues at the beginning and I don't want to undo anything.

The first couple days were rough and on day 3 and 4 she did wonderfully! Went right down without a fuss and napped 1.5-2 hours!

The last 2 days she's fallen right back in with needing Sh/pat and PUPD. Then she naps for 30-45 minutes. I have no idea what went wrong.

Before I post our EASY from today so far. The last two days were almost exactly the same except that she had a catnap at 5:30pm.

I will mention that we have not addressed nighttime sleep at this time because we think getting the daytime under control first will help us work out the night time sleep.

Wake 7:30
E 7:45
A 8:00
E 8:30
A 9:00
S 10:15 (wind down was at 9:20, followed by Sh/pat and PUPD for crying)

Wake 10:45
E 11:00
A 11:30
E 12 noon
A 12:15
S 1pm (wind down was 12:45, followed by Sh/pat and PUPD for crying)

Please help! Our naps are completely falling apart!

Hello and welcome to BW:)

Our EASY is more like EAEASY because I'm very paranoid at my supply being affected by the longer time between feedings.
I did the same thing. It is absolutely fine. Around 7 months, after solids were quite established, I found DD was not interested in some of the top up breast feeds, and so I cut those out.

This seems very normal to me. It is common for things to fall in and out of place all the time. Since you are just starting out, you would need to keep going consistently for a week or two before you can see any changes. I found the same with my DD - everything would fall into place almost immediately, and then 3 days later the fussing would begin:p I just kept plodding on.

So in the routine you have posted, you seem to be doing an A of 2.45 - that might be a bit much at 5 months (not necessarily though as A times move VERY quickly between 5 & 6 months) Could you post a few days in a row for me to see - morning and night? It helps to look at the entire picture when forming a routine.

Don't worry - things will fall back into place if you follow your plan consistently, and we'll work on your routine (if any tweaks are needed)
