Should I swaddle?
« on: November 09, 2015, 04:43:40 am »
I have a 21 week old and I am wondering if I should start to swaddle her again at night to help with sleep. However she can roll over so I have read that it is not recommended. Is this true?

Yes, it is not safe to swaddle if LO can roll. She needs to be able to move her body to roll herself back or push on her arms if she ends up on her tummy or there is a SIDS risk.
If you find swaddling for getting her off to sleep helps you could initially swaddle and once she's asleep remove the swaddle within a few mins of falling to sleep. Or for instance a cotton sheet tucked across her arms and body and tucked firmly under her so she feels the containment like a swaddle, and then remove this after she is asleep (to prevent it lifting over her face/head).
