Clicking when bottle feeding
« on: November 17, 2015, 14:26:42 pm »
Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced their LO making a 'clicking' noise when they bottle feed? My son is almost 4 months and started doing it about a month ago. Is it a sign I need to go up a teat size?  ???

Is he tongue tied at all? That can cause clicking on the breast, so I guess it could on a bottle too!

Otherwise I would try a faster teat and see if that helps, it could be he is sucking too hard on the teat and the clicking is air going back into the tat.

I'd say the noise is ccoming more from the teat than his mouth. We got referred for a TT but when we went to our appointment they said he didn't have one! Will try the next size teat and see if it helps  :)

My DD does this.  SHe had tongue tie corrected but still does it.  I would def experiment with different flows.  I think sometimes they do it by sucking too hard with a slow flow and sometimes do it to control a flow that's too fast.   You can try different flows and shapes to find a good fit for him.
