Not interested in morning bottle.
« on: December 01, 2015, 21:41:53 pm »
My 11 week old is suddenly not interested at all in his 7am bottle. He feeds around 3am and downs a 6oz bottle (same amount as all his bottles are). Should I try to reduce the 3am feed by an oz or 2? I have no option really to feed him later than 7am because of a school run.

Sorry I can't help but I'm interested in replies cos my dd is doing exactly the same. She will sleep from bedtime bottle which she drains around 7oz then sleeps til around 4 where she also drains the same. I am contemplating lifting her for a dream feed around 11pm to see if this helps. If the dream feed is smaller it can only be a good thing for the future eh? X

You could try a dreamfeed to see if that helps.

You could try feeding after the school run instead of before, if he isn't interested at that time. It can mess the EASY up a bit, but you may just have to work around that for a bit.

Reducing the nightfeed is also an option, but it may be harder to settle them if they haven't taken enough at that feed.

We already dream feed at 10pm, takes about 4 to 5 oz. I have reduced  the night feed  the last 2 nights. I gave 4oz one night and still had problems in the morning so gave 3oz  last night and had a slight improvement but still not great. He wasn't any more difficult to settle. Do I dare go to 2oz tonight?!

I didn't get round to trying the dream feed cos my
Lo decided to sleep all night!
Was a one off!  Back to normal 4 am mega bottle this morning!! Despite a huge bedtime feed around 7!! I know she is growth spurting around now and intend to keep offering more milk each feed but I worry that she will begin to think the 4 am feed is breakfast and want to get up then. She was harder to settle after it this morning than ever  :'(
Dream feed tonight,  question is, what time to do it??!!

Growth spurts can play havoc with routines!

I would do the dreamed around 10pm/ 10.30pm. You don't want to do it any later than 11pm as it can disturb sleep more than it helps it. You will need to try it for a good few days before you know if it is working or not though.

Good luck!

I've decided yet again to leave the dream feed and be grateful that my lo only has one feed at night at her age. I know my luck I'd try the dream feed and completely screw everything up. Everytime I've tried something with her re routines etc I've got it wrong. She must think, what the heck is mummy up to now. Honda leave her alone and go with the flow for a few days. Maybe gin is my answer!!!

I'm going for 3oz again tonight and if he is ok with that but still not taking morning bottle then I'll try 2oz tomorrow.
