Bleb or something else?
« on: December 02, 2015, 00:02:34 am »
Hey everyone,

I've developed a white spot on my right nipple, which from looking online it seems like it would be a milk blister - but it doesn't look raised or like a bump the way the blisters in the example photos do. It just looks like nipple skin, except white.  I've been trying to boost my supply the past couple days so I've been pumping between feedings when I can, so it's surprising that I'd get a plug when nursing/pumping so much.  It seems to get bigger after feeding, and it hurts.

Any thoughts?

It does sound like a milk blister. I had one a few months ago and the plug of milk was below the skin and when it finally came out it left a little crater for a day or two. I'm convinced it was caused by all the pumping I was doing. I often found the pump missed bits of milk and was more likely to leave blockages etc than feeding.

After feeding one day I rubbed the blister gently with a clean, dry flannel and that broke the skin which was moist at the time. After that it cleared up.

Maybe check with your HV or GP.
