LONG Nwings
« on: June 05, 2016, 06:42:40 am »
We are getting mega NWings. Teeth may have precipitated but I doubt are the issue now - he has a whole mouth full. He wakes, whinges, then cries. I give him a bottle but he can take up to 2-4 hrs to settle after that. If you leave him it is just on-off moaning. If I lie with him he is generally still and quiet, but may stroke me or start chatting a bit. If I shhhh him he shhhh's back, for example.

I've started capping the nap at 2hrs, but any other ideas??

Sleep regression Liz? I needed to start capping at 1.5h those days to see a difference. Usually had massive problem with settling at 7pm a regular waking at 5:40am when he dozed a bit until 7am. I reacted after 3weeks as wanted to see a pattern and make sure it's not developmental or teeth. After couple of weeks of capping I probably could let him sleep as much as he wanted again but I guess 4-6weeks was a period this regression lasted.

I am thinking sleep regression too. You know Annabel has been fairly inclined to long NWs since forever, but we haven't had them for a good while and now they are back! Nothing obvious I can see as to why. She's healthy, has a mouthful of teeth, good routine etc. The last few nights she's been up for 3hrs. Zzz. Same as T, she's not overly upset on her own and doesn't seem as though she needs us in the room, she just won't settle for aaaages. Sorry not to have any actual suggestions, but here with you in sympathy.  My approach atm is to leave her to it as much as possible and hope she goes back to sleeping better!  The only way through it is through it kind of thing.

He's always been good for 12-13hrs. Plus a 2-3hr nap.

We hit a bump in the road a few weeks ago but it's better now - I'm sure it was SR. It sounds like SR in your case too.

Maybe try a later BT for a few nights and see if it helps?  Anything else change?  Possibility for more/less activity/stimulation/outdoor time/etc?  I feel like they'll go through times where they seem to need less sleep and then they go back to their old routines.

It's been about 3/4 weeks though  :-\. No NWing last night after a 11.30-1.30 nap, but woke at 6am. Today was odd as he slept from 9-9.30 in the car, then refused his nap until 1.30. I work him at 2.45, but it must have been almost 8pm before he nodded off tonight. I'm working nights so it's DHs issue though  ;).

I guess just cap the nap at 2hrs but otherwise try and ride it out??

I guess so.  I hope it passes quickly.
