Fighting bedtime and EMW
« on: June 14, 2016, 20:22:46 pm »
Really need some help/advice!
My 14 month old is being a bit of a nightmare at bed time, which is so unusual. He was usually asleep by 7, but these days it's at least 8pm. He doesn't cry or get upset, he just moans a bit, bangs his head on the bed, throws dummy out of cot, plays with his comforter. We're also getting EMW too, anywhere from 5am.. And if he hasn't got to sleep until gone 8 I know that's not enough night sleep.
We have a mix of 1 day naps and some days 2 naps. I will put both EASYs below for your comments. Should we be moving to one nap a day?
2 nap days:

6am - WU
6.30am - breakfast
9.30am - go down for first nap, usually asleep for 10am at the lastest
10.30am - I usually only let him sleep for 30 mins in the morning
11am - snack and play
12pm - lunch
1.30/2pm - afternoon nap with an 8oz bottle
4pm - latest time I let him sleep until
5pm - dinner
6/6.30pm - bath, pjs, 8oz bottle
7pm - usually asleep

1 nap day:
6am - WU
6.30am - breakfast
10am - snack
11.30am - lunch
12.30 - 8oz bottle and nap
2pm - the lastest he has ever slept until on a 1 nap day
3pm - snack
4.30pm - dinner
6pm - bath, pjs, 8oz bottle
7pm - usually asleep

As I've said though, he hasn't been sleeping until at least 8pm for over a week now and WU from 5am.
Let me know what you think, happy to make any changes to help him sleep better.

Hi there does it make a difference to BT or WU if it's a 1 or 2 nap day?

Hi
No, it doesn't seem to make a big difference really. Yesterday he had two naps and fought BT, woke once in the night and then woke at 6am (better then 5am the day before).

I'd prob try and stick to 1 nap so his body gets used to sleeping lunchtime ish. EW are often following nap being too early or OT.

On 1 nap days I would make sure if nap is 1.5 or less that you stick to a 12 hour day, or sometimes 11.5 hours depending how handles OT.
