When to drop feed?
« on: September 19, 2016, 09:31:26 am »
Hi ladies

Totally can't remember what I did with DS1 but DS2 is so different he's silent refluxer but off meds now and much improved but quite a fussy eater. Started solids at 5.5 months and tried a few weeks of puree then onto lumpier plus finger foods.

he currently has feeds 7/11/2.30 (school pick up so brought early) and 6.45 with solids 8/12/5 ish still wakes in the night and drains a bottle.

Struggling to fit in all feeds with naps and solids amount not massive, would you leave feeds as they are for another month or consider dropping one now. I'd quite like afternoon one to go as its a nightmare with school pick up for DS1.

How old is he now?

The normal pattern when you drop to 3 bottles is wake up, early afternoon (post lunch and pre nap) and bedtime. How much is he taking at each bottle and how much is he taking during the night?

Sorry forgot that bit  ;D he's 8 months next week.

He takes 7oz mostly in the day and 6oz at night.

We dropped to 3 bottles at 8 months.  One at WU, around 2/2:30 (or before PM nap like Lolly said) and BT.  Overall I think she still consumes the same amount just bigger bottles less frequently.

The same here:). 3 bottles around 7/8mo but milk intake didn't drop as he started to take full 8oz (7oz water) bottles. So is he taking 4x7+6oz formula? 34oz of milk? Or even more as you count only water? It seems quite a number LOL:))). Do you think he may need a bit more solids?

Life is so much easier on 3 lol.  This is making me wonder when we dropped to 2!? I can't remember, I'm going to guess around 11 months, and then I think with DS he dropped to 1 BT bottle at 1yr because I believe when I went back to work we tried to keep that morning bottle and he just was having none of it.  Nora's 2pm bottle is hit or miss already ::). I usually end up dividing it into half before nap and the rest after nap, but then he doesn't drain her BT one.  Still sleeps through though so apparently not an issue.  Anyway, just rambling to myself here lol
