Sleep worse than ever
« on: September 25, 2016, 05:14:32 am »
I thought I'd start a new post as I have new problems
So Cruz has been waking more than ever he had to wake once sometimes twice at a push he would mostly do a good 7/8 hour stretch then wake and go that. Ack down
Now he's waking after maybe 4/5 hours
Last night was fine at first he slept 6pm - 1.40am I thought great were getting there nope he must of went back to sleep for nearly a hour to wake up again
At 2.4am r then stayed awake babbling making mousing and on off winging more was just babbling tho only winging as he got tired again he was awake til 4am doing this in this time had another bottle ino I shouldn't of gave him one but my son was in the room aswell and it's a shame for him to be woken but ino Cruz didn't even want a bottle I can't go thru these long night awakenings again my first son was like it and it drove me to the brink
My second son was a fantastic sleeper and I'm doing nothing different I don't think

He's 8 months will be 9 months on the 12th October I'm so tired all the time and it's making me miserable maybe he won't stay awake long tonight. It no doubt wil still wake more than once
After all that time awake he finally went of at 4 to be awake for the day at 5.40am I thought maybe he would sleep longer to make up for being awake

Here is yesterday's routine

Hi hun, it's hard for me to give advice based on one days schedule but is this something that has been going on a long time or is relatively new? There is a HUGE growthspurt and sleep regression at 8 months. Plus he's cutting teeth so that is bound to wake him. Even if he wakes happy it could be that theeth woke him up due to the pressure but then he's had a semi good nights sleep and then he's just wide awake. The thing with putting him down at 8:15 for a nap is you will just start to get him used to doing that and he's treating the 545-8:!5 as a night waking and it will become routine.  So pushing that nap forward as best you can even 15min at a time over a few days will help him realize a new routine. Does that make sense? I can hear your lack of sleep (figuratively) and I was there with my son. I can tell you he was an awful awful sleeper but it does get better, and it will not last forever. You can do this.

Try posting what you'd like your easy to be? Also he may not be ready to drop that night feed yet at 8 months it's not unrealistic to have one night feed. If he's taking a full feed at night he may still need it. That being said if he's having formula you could try adding just 1oz to each of his bottles during the day to make up for what he's taking at night and he may start to not need it?

Thanks hun for the reply well he used to wake once mainly sometimes twice but he would go back to sleep he stopped drinking much milk at night so I make 4oz up now for him at night also he won't drink his milk first thing so I thought it was affecting him
Here is a sample routine from before he got poorly with bronchitis and started cutting teeth

We have recently dropped his 10am  bottle because I was lucky if he would drink 1/2oz
Or he would drink it all and then not want his lunch the health visitor said he should only be on 3 bottles a day now do u think that sounds right ?
He was having bottles at 6,10,2,6 for bed

So last night he was in bed for 6pm woke around half 12 am drunk his full 4oz bottle woke again around 3 drunk another 4oz bottle but he went back to sleep both times quickly and he's woke for the day at 5.10 ino babies can only sleep so much

I'm just all confused on his awake time at this age
How many bottles should I offer him should I offer even if he doesn't drink
Because we was missing the 10 o'clock bottle the lunch one came after lunch and befor w his nap so wasn't really an easy routine
Why can some night he go to bed at 6pm and sleep till a decent hour and other nights be awake at 5 ino he's obv had enough sleep but I figured if he can sleep til 6 some mornings. He must be fine with bed at 6

I have two other boys 4&2 you would think I'd have all the answers lol
My first baby was a terrible sleeper baby 2 was a fantastic sleeper all boys
Thanks for the kind words maybe he's having a growth spurt then
Sorry for the essay x

We've had a few good nights and then tonight he woke at 12.50 it's 1.35 now and he's still awake babbling
Routine is all messed up he keeps falling asleep on school run he's gone from two naps back to three short naps I don't no wether to jus go with it or what
I don't mind him waking in the night once for a bottle but when he wakes and is shouting and making noise it's not fair on my four year old who shares the room as he has school the next day he is a deep sleeper but still I'd like to actually get a good night sleep lol.

What do you do when this happens? Remember there is a huge growth leap right now he's going through some serious mental changes. Some of this is purely developmental. If he's not fussing or crying and just babbling does h eventually go back to sleep?

So sorry for the delayed responses. I've been so crazy at work. How are things now?

Not sure how old your other son is, but you could get him ear buds or headphones to block noise?

He's four to be honest he hasn't been woken by Cruz yet it's me being overly cautious but I just don't want him being tired for school I'll see how he goes he must be a deep sleeper :)
Cruz has alredi woken up he went to bed at 6 he normally sleeps till at least 11/12. But he's woken babbling away his sleep is getting worse he use to just wAke once and straight back to sleep hopefully it will settle back down x
I have a two year old as well x
