Please help. 28 months 4:50 am wu
« on: December 18, 2016, 08:21:47 am »
She's driving me crazy. The past  2 weeks wu has been anywhete from 4:45  - 6:10 (anything after 6 is fine).  Dh has been saying to bring her in to our bed to see if she'll settle so we have done this the last 2 mornings but she didn't go back to sleep then this morning she was awake at 4:50 screaming blue murder "mummy's bed" over and over. Ripped her sleeping bag off, screaming until she was coughing and choking then screaming again.  I lay on the floor next to her bed but she wasn't having any of it. 25 mins layer I gave up and brought her in cos she'd now woke dd1 so we were all up.

Her routine is a bit mismatched at she's at nursery 3 days a week and generally catches up at home.  She's always been really hsn.

Mon.  Tue.  Wed (nursery).

WU 4:45 - 6:10
Nap 12:20 (earliest). Usually nearer 1 sometimes later for 1hr 25 mins
BT 19:00

Home

WU same as above
Nap 11:30 - 13:30 sometimes a bit more or less
BT 18:30

She goes to sleep no problem it's just the morning now. I've spoke to her about sleeping in her own bed and she says yes but come morning it's all forgotten.

Any advice would be appreciated.  Can't belI've this is happening so close to xmas.  We are going to family and she'll never last the day if she's up st that time

Would you say the earlier WU is happening when she's OT? Perhaps she's in an OT/UT loop with nursery and catchup? Do you have records of EASYs from the last week or two?

Doesn't sound like fun :(

Have you tried a gro clock or lights on a timer?  Might help longer term to get into a better habit of staying quiet until morning.

Routine wise. I'd suggest making every day the same. As you can't change the nursery days I'd make the home days the same so that every day is nap at 1pm and BT at 7pm.  I'd let her nap 2hrs but not more - it might mean moving Bt later to fit in the 2hr nap at 1pm and a decent A time before BT if she is used to having 5hrs - but a later BT would be preferable to an early wake up in my view.

I do have a log I'll post in a little bit once I've taken the dogs out. I really don't think she would last to 1 every day.  Anytime we've pushed her day longer she has several nw's clearly ot.

I'll be back shortly to posy and no its not much fun.

I really don't think she would last to 1 every day.
12.20 then if it's the earliest she can nap at nursery?  It's just that I really think you would get better nights and WU if every day was the same.
It would also help to see where things are not suiting her as the regularity of nap and BT would show how these relate to NW and EW/WU.

Anytime we've pushed her day longer she has several nw's clearly ot.
It isn't necessarily a longer day, it's a later nap, possibly later BT and later WU, just shifting things later.  I'd do a 7pm BT mainly because it offers a 11-12 hr night with WU at 6-7am whereas if you do 6.30 BT then 11hrs comes out with a 5.30 WU and you are then counting on 11.5 - 12hr night to get through to 6-6.30am.

There's no lovely pattern jumping out of that log that suggests and easy fix :(

I would think that moving that nap at home to say 12:15 or 12:30  start might just help even things out a bit and she can still catch up but you're not giving her that early nap (therefore EW) IYSWIM.

Does she tend to wake earlier and want in with you on days she's been at nursery? It looks like it to me but I'm not certain which days are which there. Perhaps she's needing some more cup filling on those days? I know L will jump in with me more if he is missing me.

The wanting in with me was totally a new thing for her. Last night I put her down at 6 since she was up at 4:50 and she slept until 6:25.

I had a good few chats with her about sleeping in her own bed so at 5 she shouted on me once then went back to sleep.  Yippee.

I'm going to start the later nap on wed as she's at nursery Monday / Tuesday.

I do wonder if it is a bit OT causing it.
