Falling asleep on the boob 3 1/2months
« on: February 25, 2017, 21:24:51 pm »
Hello, I'm new and in need of some help. My LO is almost 4 months old and I've only just started to read SOTBW. From day 1 she has fallen asleep on the boob. We're still feeding yo to 15 times in 24hrs. Im desperate to get her on the EASY plan but dont know how to stop this cycle.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm exhausted and desperate.
Many thanks xx

do you think she is feeding effectively? what is her weight gain like? many babies especially young ones fall asleep when the milk flow slows down, so you could use compressions when you feel she is losing interest or falling asleep. she could take many small feeds which in itself is not a problem unless you are trying to get her into a routine. have a look here how to do breast compression: http://breastfeeding.support/what-is-breast-compression/
I wouldn't worry too much about the routine thing, you can always work on that at later stage.

Thank you both for responding. I will have a look at both those links.
Her weight gain is on track. We did have a problem with latching on in the beginning but my health visitor helped with that and things have been great since. I will ask again though judt incase.
We just seem to be in the habit of using feeding to fall asleep. I think I need to decide which bad habit to fix first and go from there  :)

It is very common for babies of this age to fall alseep feeding. There are hormones in the milk that send them (and you!) to sleep.
