Antibiotics and pumping to freeze
« on: March 13, 2018, 06:36:06 am »
I’m on amoxicillin for tonsillitis for the next 7 days. I’ve been pumping to build up my freezer stash for when I go back to work, now that I know I have to scald the milk. Had to throw out a ton of frozen milk before because DD2 wouldn’t touch it.
Anyway, can I pump and freeze or better to wait till later as she’d be getting the antibiotics in the frozen milk unnecessarily later?

It's up to you.  Maybe mark the bags as antiB milk and if it upsets her tummy while you're taking it now don't feed it to her. If she's fine though then perhaps just spread it out so she only gets one antiB bag a day?

Don't throw it out! Use it for skin complaints, in the bath or you can even make creams and soap with it.

Do you think I should be giving her probiotics?dr said no when I asked but he was a total grump and resented being asked anything.
The baby got a fever last night so she’s probably caught what I have. Hopefully the antibodies and antibiotics in my milk help!

Yeah I’ve been taking probiotics from day one, feeding myself and baby yoghurt too. She’s not eating much at the moment though. Been a bit of a rough week, I’ve been sick and she caught some virus too. She’s ok now but no appetite at all for milk or solids.
