8 mo waking due to hunger???
« on: April 15, 2018, 20:22:09 pm »
DD is a super fast eater. She is 8 months and an average nurse for us is 4-5 mins (one side) If I stop with the one side she is fine, doesn't act like she is still hungry; but if I offer the other side she will eat for another couple mins.

Her A times are from 3:15-3:30 so she is often going 4+ hours between feeds if we get a proper nap in.

The last couple days we have been able to get at least an hour up to 1:15, we just can't seem to get past that, and I am wondering if she is waking due to hunger.

Night times are a little weird these last couple days too. I dream feed at 10 and then she is up again around 12 or 1 and refuses to go back down until we feed again. But then she makes it until 5 (she was normally doing 10 2 and 5)

There is the possibility of teething that is throwing her off, no sign of any new ones but she has been fussy and feverish for a week or so now.

How long should she be going between her feeds at this age? Any advice or suggestions?

What are your feeds looking like now? You may need to up solids, especially proteins & good fats.

These are more classically slightly UT naps - perhaps give her an extra 10-15mins A time and you may find her nap get longer.

That said, she should be having solids ~1hr after her milk feeds now and you can offer milk in a cup or a BF after solids as a drink, so then she's not going as long between feeds.

This was sundays feeds - I would says this is average for us

We are doing BLW so her solid intakes are not particularly high or consistant. Some days she eats lots other days maybe a bite or two.

E 1 AM - 8 min double side feed
E 5:15 - 5 min
A up at 7
E 7 - 5 min
A 8 - breakfast
S 10:10 -total sleep of 1:13
E 11:24 5:30 min
A 12:30 lunch
S 2:55 - total sleep of 50 min
E 4:00 5 min
A 5:15 dinner
E 7:15 7 min double feed
S 7:40 asleep for night
E 10:30 - 5 min dreamfeed (this was a little less than usual)
A 12:30 AM - up and screaming - gave tylenol  Took about 45 mins to get her to settle in again, though did not have to feed so that's a first.

Looks perfectly normal for 8mo feed-wise. I think those A times are a touch short though. At this age, usually you can only fit in one long nap and a catnap so the routine's looking pretty reasonable - her day would have to get longer to accommodate any more A time I'd say but a 12hr night is unusual at this age.

I have adjusted slightly and we are doing 3.5 hours right now and that seems to have helped a lot.

As of right now her bigger nap is usually the AM nap. How long of a catnap should we be aiming for in the PM? When she drops to 1 nap will she drop her PM? How could I go about flipping that? Or will that just adjust itself as her A times lengthen?

You say 12 hours is unusual. Should we be getting her up earlier? She ranges from 6-6:30 most days. Occasionaly 7

At the moment, a 45min CN is probably good, it will shrink or she will start to resist or you'll have to AP one with a car/pram ride of something. Here's some info on the 2-1: https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=163278.0

Sorry, yours is pretty normal, not sure I read BT at 7:40 correctly when I wrote that. Never mind, as you were!
