21 month sleep gone wrong
« on: July 06, 2019, 05:29:53 am »
Hello so we are back after a good month or so of good sleep after 6 weeks of the 18 month sleep regression.

Her routine has been as follows

WU: 7
Nap: 12.40 - 2 (have to wake her at 2 and only
1.20 nap as otherwise she won't go to bed)
BT: 7 to 7.15
Sleeps through the night with no NW

Now for the past week she is doing:

WU: 5.30 - 6 (wake crying)
Nap: try for 12.30 but she now needs me with her to fall asleep and doesn't fall asleep until 12.40 for 45 to 50 mins (wake crying)
BT: try for 7 but again she now needs me there with her to fall asleep and this can be anywhere between 7 and 7.30
NW: started having nightwakings about 1.5 hours after going to sleep and she's awake for about 2 hours crying despite me trying to settle her. Tried giving pain relief in case it's 2 year molars but doesn't seem to do anything.

When we go in in the morning to try and settle her back to sleep she just starts chatting then and is up for the day and we cannot get her back to sleep. I fear she is getting into an OT loop and no idea how to fix it when she won't sleep. Thank you

It sounds like it's something 'emotional' or health that's impacted. Has she had a cold that might have left ear problems or have their been changes like visitors, new carer etc or even a fright like not being able to find you in the house... Those things can totally disrupt sleep and take time to go back to normal.

Nope she was checked over last week by the doctor and other than hay-fever she's fine. There have been no changes either like a change of room at nursery etc. so I am at a bit of a loss! She is behaving like she did when she went through the 18 month regression with not settling without us and the only thing I have noticed is she is a lot more chatty in the day
