« on: August 29, 2005, 09:21:59 am »
My daughter Faith is 11 wks and she has 15 mins nap awakes for 5 and naps for 15 mins and wakes for 5 and so on.  Will that be enough for her she doesn't cry or fuss. I think she just wants to check that I am there.  :?

Is she sleeping for 15 min. then waking up but then returning to sleep?

What is happening is she is waking up before she enters deep sleep.  You can help her by keeping her awake times short so she doesn't overtire and overstimulate, shield her eyes from visual stim. as she fall asleep.

Have you looked at the sticky at the top about newborn sleep? It's full of information!

She is falling asleep again. My mistake lo is 10 wks old.  I will look at stickys post. She is going to sleep independently though she is good like that.  I think the whole problem is she is going 3.5 hours every feed, she just isn't interested in having a 3 hourly feed and I am not going to force her.

It sounds like she is in the process of learning how to fall asleep.. so it is common for a newborn to wake every 10/15 min. throughout the nap.

Don't worry, as she gets used to the sensation of falling asleep and getting past these jolts/partial awakenings, she will be waking less.
