Dealing with Time Change when Travelling
« on: August 30, 2005, 13:36:58 pm »
What's the best way to deal with a time change when travelling?  We're going to see the ILs next month, and they are two hours behind us.  We'll only be gone a week.  Is it better to keep her on home time and just put her to bed early?  Dd goes to bed around 7:30pm, and gets up between 6 and 7am.  She'll be 8.5mos when we go.

Hi Deborah I did this when dd was 6 months and again at 9 months. The day you arrive just kind of go with the flow but protect bed time if you can. So what I did was put her down about half an hour before her bedtime but on local time so put her down at 7pm which really would have been 9pm for her and bed time is usually 7.30. I did let her nap a bit more through the day but not after 3.30 pm and then I just got her up at 8.00 local time the next day and she was fine. Did the same thing when we came back, when we got back she was a bit more tired for the first 2 days so bedtime was a bit earlier than normal.
Hope I am explaining myself well but its been a v long day
