pu/pd and crying?
« on: September 22, 2005, 04:06:32 am »
Hi,
I was confused a little after reading some messageson the board as well as reading BW solves all your problems.  If my dd cries, I need to pu and then pd immediately after she is calm. What if she doesn't get calm and become more agitated? Do I hold her if she is not arching her back but just screaming really hard? Then I pd even though it may be a long time before she settles back down?
Thanks,
Suzanne

It really depends on the age of your lo; if she's 3-6 months, then yes, pick up, calm down, put down. If she starts crying again, repeat. You may have to do this 100+ times to start. But don't do it longer than 40 mins. If older than 6 months, pick up, then put down immediately. If she's younger than 3 months, don't use this technique, it's too stimulating for her. Use pat/shh instead.
