She's upset because she doesn't want to go to sleep. She wants to practice standing up!  But yes. If she's crying and she's laying down you go in and do everything you usually do to calm her. You're just adding the p/d if she's standing. It made Ella right mad too but it does get better. This is where consistency is sooooo tough. I think it was 8-10 months that Tracy said is a prime time for accidental parenting...?

Thank you!!!  Doesn't always feel like it.  It's quite tiring...especially since this all started while dh is away on business.  And to think, he's actually upset he's not here to see this new "first".

Well ladies....Zero, yes I said zero pu/pd for crib standing tonight.  YAY!!!!!!  There isn't an emoticon to show how happy I am.  Only 2 pd for each of her naps today and zero at bedtime.  And the 2 at naptimes involved very little crying - it was mostly stopping her from play standing.  It's a miracle.  I hope she's catching on and it's not just a fluke!  And guess what, dh comes home tonight to a nice calm, happy (but sick) baby.  He'll never believe that I had such a difficult week.

Thanks all for your advice and support!  You got me through yet another "crisis".

Thank you! It's my father in law...one of my favorites except she was sooo upset that day.  Grandpa was the only one who could soothe her.  :)

Love your new pic too btw!

Take care,

Sharon

I'm so annoyed! DD's been getting up once in the middle of night for the past couple of nights (I thought we had solved that issue but I guess it's coming back) so I had DH take care of her & try to get her back to sleep with the explicit instruction to not feed her.  So guess what he did?  Of course, he gave her some milk!!!!!  His reasoning to me was that he didn't think milk was food, just something to drink.  What????%%%&&&  I can pretty much guarantee that she's going to wake up tonight.  On the bright side, I think we have the naps back to normal - she hasn't stood up during naps for a couple of days.  That only took a day or so to nip in the bud.

I am sorry that she is waking, but this made me laugh so hard!  Sounds JUST like something my dh would do!   :?

Well, I was premature in saying that her naps are back to normal.  I'm getting so frustrated.  She used to go down for 1.5 hour naps without a problem after 2 hours of awake time (clock-watching).  Past 2 days we've been struggling to get her to take a nap (I've been waiting 2.5 hours) & she only naps about 45 minutes.  She's still doing the standing thing which we're working on.  Is this a phase?  What the heck is going on?  I want to jump off a cliff!!!

J chang -
What happened with the standing in crib???  I am curious because my boy started doing this today and tonight putting him to bed has been a nightmare!  How long did it take for yours to stop doing this????  My dh and I just kept putting him on his back about 10 times before he slept out of exhaustion. Thanks for any help you have.

It took a few days for her to figure out how to get back down.  At the time, she was sleeping in her pack n' play with the mesh sides so we couldn't teach her the technique of sliding her hands down the bars.  Instead she figured out on her own that if she put 1 hand down, then she could kneel down & get back to lying down.  You can probably work on teaching her that so she'll get the hang of it more quickly.  We just kept putting her down like you're doing until she tired out.  It'll get better.  Hang in there.

Did she just let herself back down after a few days or stop the standing all together?
