Waking Up Cranky
« on: October 18, 2005, 17:02:19 pm »
Hi there. During her first two naps, I have to wake my almost 10-week old most of the time after 2-2.5 hours (she is on a 4-hour schedule, although only 3-3.5 hours in evening). She generally is cranky/fussy when I wake her - should I be letting her sleep more? They are already quite long naps, and she has a hard time taking more than a restless catnap before her dinner.

Or is it just normal to be cranky/fussy when woken and if so, should I do anything to ease it? I normally feed her pretty quickly, is there a better way to wake her?

Dd is also cranky when I wake her, though it's rare that I need to.  What I do is go in and disturb her slightly - rub her belly, stroke her cheeks.  Then I leave for ten minutes to let her finish waking up on her own and come back.

Is your dd breast or formula fed?  A four-hour routine seems awful long for a 10wk old.

Hi Deborah. She is bottle fed and because of her reflux has cereal in her bottle - hence the 4-hour routine. I'll try that for waking her...
