Big Problems with the Dude
« on: October 24, 2005, 17:08:10 pm »
My 6.5 month old is now getting up twice a night to eat because he is hungry.  He normally has four 9 oz. bottles during the day, and then one usually at night.  But for the past few nights, he's eaten twice.  Both times he's drained both bottles.  Then, he's extremely restless.  If that's not enough, he's rolling onto his stomach, and that wouldn't  be a problem, except he's face down.  And the only way he moves, is when I move him.
He's been crawling for a few weeks, and I know that creates some nighttime issues, but what can I do to help everyone get a bit of sleep in my house?

Try offering him an extra bottle in the day. or increase his solids intake.
Also during the day help him lean how to roll back so he can do it at night.
The extra moving will make him more hungry & also disrupt sleep.

He's quit taking a second bottle at night, but the restless sleep and rolling over face down are still a mess.

Is he eating solids....generally no.  He wants no part of it.  He'll have a few bites here, and a few bites there, but he prefers his bottle.  I know this is uber bad, but we've been trying for a month.  He'll just lock his mouth up tight, and that's the end of solid food.

As for adding another bottle, that would work, but he won't take it.  He eats every four hours, and then one at night sometime.

You know, maybe it's because of his shots?

I wouldn't worry too much about the solids, keep offering at his age it is still just a taste/learning thing.
Shots &  moving will mess things up... jsut keep consistent with how you respond & be prepared fo disruption with the next milestone :(
