Post infant car seat transportation question
« on: January 08, 2006, 00:09:40 am »
I am not sure which category to stick this question under, so I hope this is correct.
My DS is about to outgrow his infant car seat and we will have to switch him to a new convertible car seat. Currently we can still carry him to and from places in his car seat (i.e. use it as a baby carrier) and can leave him sleeping in it in restaurants, etc.
My question is how did you carry your LOs once they outgrew the infant car seat, and when you had to set them down (in a restaurant or church or grocery shopping) where did you put them. He's not ready to sit on his own yet (keeps tipping over  :) ), so I don't know what to do with him.
Thanks for any advice.

We brought his stroller everywhere I think.  Once Andrew outgrew his infant seat (around 4 mos), he was so big in the chest and shoulders that the straps were actually cutting into him.

When Tyler outgrew his infant seat, he was nowhere near ready to sit up yet. He rode in the convertible carseat, but I kept his carrier in the car and put him in it when it wasn't practical to use a stroller (like restaurants).

Tyler's Mommy,

When you say "carrier", do you mean something like a Baby Bjorn or something else?

No, I mean the infant car seat itself. I installed his convertible carseat and that's what Tyler rode in when we were in the car, but I kept the infant car seat in the trunk. When we went into a restaurant, I buckled him into the infant car seat he'd outgrown and carried him around in that. Does that make sense?

Come to think of it, we used the Baby Bjorn sometimes too!
