When to stop last night feed?
« on: January 08, 2006, 21:15:24 pm »
Hey Ladies!  I would love your advice.

Traci says in her book at one point that she defines sleeping through the night as sleeping 5-6 hours straight.   But then at other points she says you shouldn't be feeding them anymore at night.  So I am confused and wondering what to do.

My son is almost 6 months.  He goes down at 7pm, sleeps until usually 3am - ish, then feeds and goes back to sleep until 7am.   I know he wakes at other times in the night, but puts himself back to sleep.   I want to drop this last feed, but I don't know if its the right thing to do or not.

He doesn't do the dreamfeed.  We have tried it at a few different points, and it only screws him up.   So that is not an option for us.

Should I help him drop this, or does he still need it?

Thanks!
Carin

Most babies still need at least one night feed until well established on 3 solid meals per day... normally around 8months old & from my experience with both my ds they tend to gradually drop it on their own if they are ready for it...If he hasn't dropped it by 9months, then that would be the time to "help' him along with it.
