If it's any consolation Steffi, Scotty is at the age when ds started eating very little. Some days, I swear he lives on air and water ::). I'm pretty sure it's normal

I have been putting together a balanced meal (in a divided plate with lid) and offering it at breakfast, he nibbles, I put the lid on & pop it in the fridge, offer it again at lunch, he nibbles and again at dinner as well as whatever we are eating for dinner...and he seems ok with that, then I toss whatever is left after dinner.

What are a couple examples of what you put in your divided lid plate?

It varies, but a few examples would be in the 3 sections...

1) blueberries, banana, apple, cherries, etc
2) scrabbled eggs, hot dog, peanut butter sandwich, etc
3) snap peas, broccoli or carrots, etc

I try to put a veggie in one section, a fruit in the other and a protein in the third...if he finishes one section and it's something I feel he could use more of in his diet, I'll refill it, but otherwise I don't in hopes he'll get some sort of balanced something over the course of the day.

I also offer a yogurt drink, watered down juice & milk throughout the day...yogurt drink typically at breakfast, watered down juice during the day (I make up 2 sippy cups for the day...if he finishes those, I just add water to them) and a milk bottle at bedtime (nap & night)

He gets way too many liquids, but I'm not sure how to limit it except to continue watering it down until he's getting almost all water...   :-\

Hi all,

Haven't posted on here for a while so here goes:

Breakfast:  Cereal (mix of muesli, shreddies and honey nut cheerios) and milk with cantaloupe
Snack:  Cheese and a pickle/gherkin
Lunch:  Scrambled eggs (3 eggs!) and toast- 6 oz milk
Snack: Watermelon
Dinner:  Rigatoni pasta with my homemade Giardenieri tomato sauce, ingredients all from my garden/giardenieri  :) 8): Tomatoes, garlic, cress, spinach, parsley, basil and zucchini/courgettes mixed in my food processor-saute in a skillet with olive oil and wine for about 20 min on high then low to simmer adding some water from the boiling pasta as it is cooking for flavour and to thin the sauce. Try it you will love it and healthy too.
Bedtime snack:  8 oz milk followed by a yogurt and a small potato scone.

Nello got his bottom two 2nd year molars along with hand, foot and mouth.... :( :P about 2 weeks ago and didn't eat for days, so for the last 2 weeks he has been eating like there is no tomorrow.

Aisling x

Bak Choy and Fried Rice!

Fried Rice is a favourite, good way to put in veggies and protein.

But the bak choy.. stir fried... that's a first! She really liked the cruncy stalks.

You got me jealous  :P Thanks Caroline, I know it's quite normal, too. That's what I always tell all the other mothers, but when mine does it, it's catastrophe time! How weird is that? He also didn't eat because of his constipation, so there was a reason, but it's over now. Still a picky wee man.

I know!?  Although I find with scrambled the eggs shrink down a lot.  He is starving already and it is only 6:45, he woke up and said first thing, "Cheese."   His metabolism is just like DH's and he is soooo busy, not to mention we are outside playing physically all day long and swimming for the most of it.

Steffi, the only time DS has ever been picky is with teething.  How are his 2nd yr molars coming?

B: half a slice of toast
L: refused
S: refused
D: will make him mash and veg. Hopefully he'll eat some of it...

Well, it's 1pm and she has refused everything so far today  :-\
The only think I was able to get her to eat was a few bites of freeze dried bananas and that's it = the amount of one bite of an actual banana
She did guzzle 10oz of milk this am and then at the park drank 4oz of water so maybe because she didn't eat she compensated by drinking more milk this am?  Who knows.

Not posted for a while

Today Lily ate
B- bf, nearly whole bowl cheerios, large handful of grapes (might of been too many her nappy tonight wasn't pretty  :P )
L- 1/2 cheese sandwich, tried some SIL prawns with rose mari sauce (think thats right) liked them, tried some proper ham of the bone, liked that too  :)  2 strawberries
bf before nap snack after, few cheese & tom puffs & some raisins
D- stir fry with rice, tried some of mine with sweat & sour sauce and seemed to like that too. Most Muller fruit corner yogurt, 3 strawberries & some more cheese & tom puffs.

I have discovered that Lily really likes fish, she often has mini fish fingers for dinner and has had battered cod from chip shop, but I recently tried her with a salmon paste sandwich which she scoffed up, she had a fish cake (which was really fishy IYKWIM) when out for dinner the other night and today the prawns.  Cant work out where she gets it from as neither DP or myself really eat fish at all, but I'm certainly not knocking it.  We also seem to be making some progress in the meat department with the ham and I have discovered she likes that wafer thin sandwich chicken (not really much meat in that I know but it ain't vegetarian either  ;) )
