Hey Michelle:  He is doing WONDERFUL.  He drinks about 3 cups of milk a day, has cheese, whatever.  No issues at all.  Either he grew out of it or something else (unexplained) was going on at the time.  OR..... when I removed all dairy from his diet for a couple of months or however long it was, it could have gave his system a chance to heal.

he loves his milk, icecream and cheese though.

How are things with you these days?

Thats really sound advice, I have on occasion (mainly lunch times not dinner) started to offer a variety of things after DD has eaten say, 2 bits of sandwich chucked the rest on the floor, then refused her yogurt.  I start to think 'you've got to eat something' so offer some raisins of which she might eat 2, spit out the third then dump the rest of the edge of high chair, so then I've offered a toddler biscuit, which gets a suck then follows the raisins over the edge  ::) By this point I normally assume she simply cant be that hungry and lunch is over but in future I will stop at what I had intended on offering and no more.  One thing that so far has not been refused is Organix cheese & tomato puffs but following what you said I don't think it would be wise to offer these in the circumstances or that could become trouble.

Thanks for appreciating my comment :) I agree too about the not offering the cheese puffs at meal times that she's demostrating her independence, because then she may become picky and decide that is the only thing she will eat. ;)

Just thought I'd add.  Following DD's 1st birthday and far too much sweet stuff, I have realised she really cant handle anything loaded with sugar.  3 milky buttons after lunch today led to 30mins hyperactive loony baby.  1 very slim slice of birthday cake with icing peeled of (the day after her birthday, we didn't eat it on the day too much excitement and other stuff going on) led to an afternoon of extreme highs and crying miserable lows, she really didn't know if she wanted a s**t, shave or a haircut!   :D :o :'( ;D So for a little while yet sweets and sugary things are definitly out.

Weston would always refuse sweets when offered until just recently...about Easter time is when he decided sweets were AOK in his mind.  :-\

Weston also had some 'milk' (or maybe lactose) issues when he was younger...and offering lactose formula instead of milk for a while seemed to help and now he loves his milk, cheese, etc...so I would venture to guess some of those studies I read up on were right about their digestive track really not being ready at age 1 for cows milk, but rather age 2 or better yet age 3 (according to some studies) I'm sure (from MY experience) Weston's digestive system just needed some time to mature and prepare for milk a little while longer then some kids. :)

Hey Wendy, in general we are doing good re: eating. Still loves his fruits and veggies, some pasta, rice, yoghurt etc., started to eat some fish and a little bit of eggs. I was just hoping he would be able to drink the cows milk as it contains so much protein compared to Rice Milk, which has basically none.

Horrible mucosy diapers still today. Bleuch.

Glad Zach is doing sooooo much better than he was even a few months ago!

Can you get goats milk? I have in my mind that its not as hard for LO's digestive system to cope with.  I could be wrong, maybe someone else can confirm this.
Re cows milk in general, I am very fortunate that Lily takes cows milk OK, although I don't offer it to drink she has it on her cereal every day and eats lots of cheese.  From experience tho I know cows milk can be very bad for LO's, my niece almost died, yes died, from cows milk allergy she was about 1 I think although she is 18 now so my memory is a little fuzzy, she was just constantly throwing up and had chronic diarrhea to the point where she was admitted to hospital she had lost so much weight and was so dehydrated and even then it took over a week for them to figure out it was the milk causing it.  As soon as she stopped being given cows milk she got better.  Bless her tho when she first went to school, at the first morning milk break she got in such a panic because she knew she couldn't have milk she got quite hysterical thinking they would force her to drink it, she didn't realise they knew she wasn't to have it and had got juice instead. It actually took till she was 6/7 before the odd bit of milk in cereal was OK.

When I was researching it back when Weston had issues....I found LOADS of info saying Goats Milk is the closest milk to Human Breast Milk...and MUCH easier on the digestive track of a baby/toddler...

so using that info I'd have to say YES, I believe Goat's milk is far more easy on the system then Cow's milk...and Weston did fine with Goat's milk...I used the power kind most of the time, because it didn't go bad so fast...I didn't offer it all the time, so I needed something that would not spoil too soon...but you can buy it in liquid form as well if you prefer...

I have heard that about goat's milk before too. I don't know why, it makes me a bit squeamish, yet cows milk doesn't.

No sense to that whatsoever, but there you go!

Today Zara ate: (and this is about average lately)

Breakfast: couple sips of milk, couple oz of orange juice (undiluted), bowl of adult muesli with milk (yummy stuff with oats, bran, seeds, nuts, and dried fruit), and 6 grapes
Snack: 1/3 choc chip cookie, 4 grapes, couple oz of diluted apple juice
Lunch: Salad (tinned corn kernels, beetroot slices, avacado, cheese and ham) - threw the asparagus, tomato and lettuce on the floor, more diluted apple juice, and a tin of baby custard, and about 8-10 peices of fruit from a bowl of fruit salad (including pineapple, rockmelon, honeydewmelon, and watermelon)
Snack: bowl of mango greek yoghurt, and 1/2 a toddler yoghurt muesli bar, more diluted apple juice
Dinner: handful frozen peas, mashed up our dinner (chicken breast with cream of celery soup, with carrot and pumpkin).  About 5-6 pieces of fruit from the fruit salad
Bottle: She still has a formula bottle before bed, takes anywhere from 40-200ml - average 100ml (hasn't had this yet).

Water throughout day also.

Not bad huh? ;) ;D

Zach's biggest meal is breakfast.  He will eat SO much at breakfast.

Today he ate:

Wake: 6 0z. milk
- 1 egg, 1/2 pancake, and then 1/2 nutragrain bar...
- Snack:  Goldfish and grapes
Lunch: Cheese and watermelon

We are having big issues with meat, he just hates it.  He was eating hamburger, but now he will chew it and spit it out.. Yuck.

He gets his protein from eggs (which he loves) and milk.  Thank goodness

Nee - salad...we eat it often, but it isn't a salad prepared with all the ingredients mixed.  I just cut up foods that I like to eat without cooking them and put them all sepereately on my plate.  Over time, Zara has tried most of them.  Honestly we are only just starting to get success with salad, because of not cooking the vegies, they required more chewing etc.

You know I tasted goat's milk once (well a couple times actually) and when it's slightly close to room temp, GAG...it's NASTY! But if it's cold...it tastes exactly like cows milk. IMHO...but come to think of it warm cows milk is nasty too...lol

So long story short...drink it COLD!!! Nice n COLD!!! :)

We are having big issues with meat, he just hates it.  He was eating hamburger, but now he will chew it and spit it out.. Yuck.

I think meat is a 'strong' taste and as they develop they will grow to like it more, Weston would eat almost anything when he was a young baby...I honestly think I could have fed him pureed dog poop and he'd love it...but give him meats (turkey, chicken, ham, beef, etc) and he would spit it out...then one day he ate venison like it was going out of style...

..to this day, most meat & poultry products he's 50/50 if he'll eat it, but pretty good chance he'll eat venison...doesn't make sense, other then maybe it's leaner meat and he doesn't like the 'fat'??? I don't know, but I do have hope that with time, he will grow to like meat a little more...as you can tell we aren't vegetarians in this house...lol ;)

OM I have missed so much.....

How can I get her to eat veggies?   I am getting worried becuase she use to eat 6+ oz of veggies a day and now I can't get her to eat barely any (except Gerber Lil'Crunchies - baked corn snack). She will eat a good amount of fruit (is that bad?).

Today so far...

B-fast 4oz of milk (between 7-9am)
1/5 scrammbled egg  ::)
and refused fruit
However a few minutes later let me actually feed her pureed oatmeal/pear/cinnamon (aobut 3-4oz worth) :o

Snack- 1st time in 2 weeks that she actually ate an entire yogurt  :D

Lunch: A few bites of fruit and puffs but refused the expensive sandwich I bought becuase she acted as if she were hungry and wouldn't make it until we got home. ::)  It was good turkey and she just laughed at it.   ;)

We haven't gotten to dinner yet but it makes me the most 'nervous,' as I want her to have a real meal but she ends up only eating a nutragrain bar or something along those lines becuase she refuses everything else.   :P

It's good to know I'm not the only one.
