Whole milk
« on: January 12, 2006, 15:21:53 pm »
I know that most peds recommend whole milk from 1 year on, but reading DS's tin of SMS Progress (formula for toddlers from 6 months onwards in the UK), it looks as if it contents a lot of good stuff like iron, vitamins, etc., which perhaps whole milk doesn't have ? SMS themselves recommend using their product until 2 years. Does anybody have any views ? Thanks

If they're eating a balanced (solid food) diet outside of milk, then whole milk will suffice.

Its a marketing ploy to try to get you to buy their formula for longer. Your lo should get the majority of their nutrients from solids and milk becomes more of a drink than a food from the age of 1 year.  DD switched to whole milk at 1 year with no problems.
