How to cook lentils for 9 month old?

I want to start introducing lentils, split peas, etc. to my 9 month old. Do you cook them as normal and then puree/mash?

My little one's favourite meal at the moment is lentils with coriander and carrot from Lorainne Kelly's book.

60g lentils
150ml water
medium potato chopped
medium carrot chopped
half tsp ground coriander

Simmer everything together until tender then mash, blend or do what I do forget and cook for longer till it all turns to mush!

i find that you don't need to puree lentils as they go so soft once they've been soaked and then cooked, chickpeas need to be mashed or pureed though as they are quite hard, you'll need lots of water to go with the chickpeas (save the cooking water) as they are quite dry, even once they've ben cooked.
my dd is nearly nine months and is managing well with lumps as well as the husks of the lentils, so hopefully your lo will too.
