How long can we stay at a 3 hr EASY????
« on: February 01, 2006, 03:48:14 am »
We are desperately struggling to increase A time past 1hr 15 min, but it is sooo hard. Gage is almost 5 mths and we are just now reaching a 3 hr EASY! Some days he will eat at 3 and sometimes 3.5, but rarely ever 4. His naps are just now starting to increase thank goodness! We have a pretty good routine, but still working on a consistent bedtime. Will he be okay at a 3 EASY for a while?

Every baby is different, so he may just be needing a little more time to stretch his feedings.  Do you feel that he is taking full feedings, or if he takes a bottle how many oz does he take?  Can you share his current routine?

The second nap at 1:05, when he only slept 40 mins, was he acting overtired or seemingly okay?  Is he acting hungry at 3-3.5 hrs, or are you feeding him b/c he's woken from his nap?  If he's not cranky from being hungry, it's okay to have a little more A time after he wakes if you can push his feedings back.

He isnt crabby until after the 40 min nap. He has been having a pattern of naps- apx. 2hrs, 45 min, 1.5, and 30-45 min. He seems to be crabby after the 40 min nap until the 1.5 nap, and I know it is because he didnt sleep enough. Today I tried giving him a bath (bedtime baths are too much) after his first nap and he slept 2hrs. I may keep doing this as a method of extension.

He is hungry right on the 3 hr dot! Sometimes I can preoccupy him for an additional 15 ish min, but he is hungry. He has also been waking more often in the night to eat. He eats anywhere between 6-8 oz a sitting every 3 hours :o All signs point to starting him on solids, so we tried it today and it went great! I really wanted to wait until the suggested 6 mths, but I think my almost 20lb bub needs it. I am hoping this will prolong his feeds.

Hiya, we're still on 3 hour EASY.
My 2 are now 7 months, so roughly 4.5 corrected.  Like you, I am lucky if they strecth to 3h 15m.  Usually it's 3 hours on the dot - you could set your watch by it!
We can only manage 1 1/2 hours awake time here.
The only problem I have is fitting 3 solid meals in.  At the moment, I am just sticking with breakfast and an afternoon meal.

That's all folks!
(Well, maybe another girl if I can convince DH!)

Hi woopster! Thanks for the reply. Oh my word, I dont nknow how you do it with 2  :o! Oh i am such a slacker, I can barely make it with one :-[!

My NEWEST problem with this short EASY is that all of the napping affects his bedtime. I couldnt figure out why he was continually waking after his bedtime, and now I know it was because he wasnt tired enough. I thought he couldnt tell the difference between a nap and bed time! Gage needs about 4-4.5 hrs of nap time to become tired enough to sack out for the night. Do you have this prob?
