Apples and pears
« on: February 12, 2006, 20:05:45 pm »
Ok, so I abuse this site so bad...  I should just look at one of the sites listed above, but you mamas are so helpful.

When I do up my own apples and pears for ds do I just bake it in the oven whole?   Then I'm assuming the peel and insides will just fall away?  I doubt I need to puree it afterwards, but I may have to.  And after I get it done, is it ok to freeze it like I do with my veggies? (in ice cube trays)

Thanks a million,

Jodie

Yes, you can bake them and then just mush up the fruit without the skins. I sometimes stew them as well. Apples with raisins or cinnamon.
Yes, you freeze them like the veg.

Hey cutie,

I have read in several baby food recipes that you should peel and core both apples and pears and then stew them in about an inch of water until the become intense in color and soft enough to mush with a fork.  They both go wonderfully with a touch of cinnamon!  ;)
