Help, she's spitting at me!!
« on: February 14, 2006, 18:21:18 pm »
:o My eight month old now thinks that it is fun to spit her food at me.  I am not talking just a little I end up covered in it.  It mostly happens with cereal but occasionally with her veggies too.  I sternly tell her no and to keep her food in her mouth everytime that it happens but I still seem to get covered in food every feeding.
Anybody got any suggestions?

Euch - horrid isn't it.
When Matthew did it.  I used to ignore it.  (very hard I know when you are covered).  I decided that if I gave it  ANY attention - whether that was positive by laughing,or negative by saying to stop it etc - then it was more likely to continue.  If i ignroed it then in his eyes it wasn't worth doing.

It was a phase.

I either ignored it or promptly ended the meal. Tyler got the message pretty quickly.

LOL, I am sorry but it sounds so funny, I can just picture you sat there covered in mushed bannana   :D

The other guys are right though, just ignore it, they only do things for attention so he'll soon pack it in and as Tracey says any behavior our LO's do is always just a phase (the good and the bad behavior!)  HTH

:)Thanks everyone for the advice.  This a.m. she spit once and I ignored it and the rest of the feeding went great.  I'll continue on and hope we are finally over this one.
