How much cereal

Just a quick question....
How much cereal per day should my 7 month old be eating?  I have heard that it is real important to make sure that they get at least 1/2cup dry cereal per day
To me that seems like quite a bit.
Right now ds eats:
5am 4oz formula
8am 4-6oz formula
9am 1/4cup cereal& 1T fruit
12pm 4-6oz formula
1pm 3T Veg
4pm 4-6oz formula
5pm 2T Meat&veg mix and 2T fruit
7:30pm 4-6oz bottle
12pm 4-6oz formula(used to be an 11pm df, but trying to get rid of so lo wakes anytime between 12 and 3 and last night skipped his 5 am feeding)

So maybe I am asking 2 questions in one 1) Does he need more cereal(I don't think he will take anymore)
and 2) Does it seem he is eating enough during the day??

Here's the thing...according to Gerber, 1/2 cup of dry baby cereal will provide 90% of your baby's daily iron requirements. But keep in mind that your LO is still getting most of his nutrition from formula or breastmilk, and these both contain iron (especially formula, since most of it is iron-fortified). Factor in that your LO is probably eating other foods that contain iron, like meat, and there's no way most babies need that much cereal, KWIM?
