Looking for food ideas for 8 month old
« on: February 16, 2006, 15:15:08 pm »
Good Morning,

I'm looking for some food ideas for my 8 month old son.  Currenlty he eats:

Carrots
Sweet Potatoes
Broccoli
Squash
Peas
Green and yellow beans
Pasta with veggies
Apples
Pears
Mangos
Banana
Apple and Raspberry combo
Prunes
Plums
Chicken
Turkey
Beef

I mix the meat and veggies together.  The fruit and veggies are bought - organic - and the meat I make through a blender.  He also eats baby cookies, cheerios and peices of cooked carrot and fruit.

Anyway,  I wondered if I should be starting him on fish and milk products like yogurt and cheese.  I am also looking for a few recipes to "shake" things up for him.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
DN

If you have started him on meat there is no reason not to try him on milk products and also on fish. How about lentils and chickpeas; my little one loves those and I am not sure what veg combinations you do but there is a whole array like leek, sweet potato and pea, Cauliflower with carrots, tomatoes and basil; risottos etc... let me know what recipes you want in particular.

As many different flavours you can try with him the better. This morning I chucked some apples I had spiced in DS porridge and he went mad for it, I was dubios thinking the flavour would be too strong but they suprise you sometimes. If you are inrtoducing dairy you could make a cheese sauce, if I am in a hurry I wang it on anything and he eats it. You could try scramled eggs, cottage cheese (full fat) Have you tried mushrooms? Ditto with the resipie thing, tell us the kind of thing your after  :)
