What age for shellfish?

I was wondering if anyone knew what is the right age to introduce shellfish - like shrimp, lobster, crab, mussels, etc.  Well, we don't eat a lot of mussels or clams, but I like shrimp, but I haven't ordered seafood at a restaurant in a while b/c DS likes to eat from my plate.  He's had fish before.

They suggest after the first year is fine but if there is a history of food allergies in the family I personally would wait until at least 2 years of age. JMO.

Aiden's been eating shrimp and crab and crawfish since he was about 18 months I think.  Before that we never bothered to feed it to him - well, cuz we'd rather have it all to ourselves!  :-[ ;)  Now he LOVES snowcrab, can't crack them himself or anything - but we do share.  As much as I LOVE lobster - I will prolly be selfish with it if/when I ever splurge on some.  I'd say definitely don't rush it if you have allergies in the family, I know a shellfish allergy I think responds the same way as peanut where your throat swells shut or something horrific like that.  :o

I heard that after 1 year old is ok as long as there is no allergies in the family, i held off until DD was 2 though just to make sure as it turned out she doesn't like it ::) :)
