hi everyone...  what are you guys doing about snacks?  every book i read says little ones should be having 3 meals and a snack (showing formula given at mealtimes).

i give his formula between meals, where i guess a snack would be.  so his day of meals looks like this -

7 formula 8oz
8.30 breakfast - cereal or egg yolk, 1/2 C fresh fruit
11 formula 6-8oz
12.30 lunch - 1/2C cottage cheese or yoghurt, 1/2C veges, 1/2C fresh fruit
4 formula 6-8oz
5.30 dinner - 1/4C fish or meat, 1/2C veges, some pasta or rice, 1/2C fruit
6.30 formula 6oz

he seems fine with this... but would eat a horse anyway...  am wondering if i should be offereing snacks with his formula as well.  he's a healthy 23.5lbs.

would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

My DS has pretty much the same routine as your LO and i've just been  to speak to my health visitor because DS has started waking in the night and downing a further 8oz bottle. She says i should start introducing a snack between meals to get his calories up during the day and hopefully that should stop the night wakings. If your LO isn't waking up at night due to hunger than he's probably getting enough during the day but if it does start then definetly start snacks. With a routine set out as ours is i already feel as though all i ever do is feed him and now having a further 3 snack times, the poor kid is constantly going to have his mouth full ::)

You could try giving a snack before his 11 am milk. You could then offer the milk as well if you wanted to or use it as a way of reducing the milk feeds.
If you ut that milk out i would offer a bit more in the afternoon and evening bottle for a bit to see if he wants a bit more then. But he would still be getting enough with just the three bottles and his other daairy intake.
