Switching to cow's milk
« on: March 09, 2006, 06:53:56 am »
My son will be one year old in two weeks and I was planning to start him on cow's milk. He still usually has 4 bottles a day (sometimes 3) of formula. He's only taking a little water out of a sippy. My plan was to switch one bottle a week to cow's milk. Today I tried the mid-afternoon bottle with cow's milk as that seemed the least important but he had a few sips and rejected it. He then whimpered around me until I gave him some formula.  Any tips on how to convert him? Thanks  :)

When you give him formula in the bottle is it warmed up? If so, you may want to warm the cow's milk up too. I would also start giving him cold cow's milk in a sippy or straw cup with his meals to get him used it that. HTH

Thanks, I'll try the sippy idea. I stopped heating his formula a couple of weeks ago which he seemed fine with. Only thing is, he seems to see a sippy cup as a toy...!
