how do i break this cycle??
« on: March 12, 2006, 14:15:34 pm »
My 3 mo old son is on 3 hour EASY (most of the time!) He is still waking at night and around midnight (took 3 oz) and 3/4 (took 7oz) for feedings....I am doing all I can to give him lots during the day....recently I changed his nipple and this has helped.

I find at 7am he doesnt want to eat much - or even at 8am. He only took 2 oz this morning and of corse cut his nap short.

My question is this - How can I get my son to eat more during the day when he is still eating at night?? When he wakes at night hungry I feel like I need to feed him...but then I feel as if I will never break this cycle?!~
Please help!

when he only takes 3oz at each feed during the day, how is he letting you know he is not hungry? He is actually hungry when you go to feed him in the afternoon? I only ask as my DS chnaged himself to 4hr EASY at  3 months old, I missed the cues and thought he was not hungry.

Just a thought...

When he feeds during the day is he distractable, or does he take the feeds well?  My DD was far too busy to eat during the day, and would wake at night to do so. I had to start feeding her in her room in the dark during the day. No distrations. At this age though, it is still quite comman for LO's to wake once for a feed.
