quick question - wake to sleep
« on: March 15, 2006, 00:27:33 am »
Hi guys

When you wake to sleep, should you change the time you go in to your LO each night for the week?

My 13 week old LO has been waking at 3am on the dot, and I am wondering what will hapen if I wake to sleep at 2am each night for a week, will she then develop a habit of waking at 2? Or should I go in the first night at 2, then 2.15, then 2.30 etc

Also, how much do I wake her? should I just rewrap her or do I have to wake her completely and do you do it for 3 days or keep going for the week?

She doesn't want food when she wakes, all I do is rewrap and leave the room and she sleeps till 5 or 6 so I know it is habit now.

TIA
Clare

I'm having the same problem!  ::)
You only do it for 3 nights so it shouldn't cause a new habit. You go in an hour before, so 2am, and just stir them slightly but not so they wake fully. I just tugged the sleeping bag a few times or stroked his cheek. Enough so that he turned his head from one side to the other but not fully awake. Only done it once so far because the next night he woke before my alarm went off!  ::) If she does wake then you might have to shh/pat to get back to sleep. The first night I did it DS slept ALL night! It was amazing but last night was a nightmare because he woke 1/2 hour earlier than my alarm and didnt' go back to sleep for 1.5 hours but that might be a growth spurt issue. Good luck!
