Hi i might have to stop bf but i dont even know where to start with bottle feeding. Ethan is 10 wks old and i do feed him once a day in a bottle (pumped). I curently use the Avent bottles. I think there pretty good can i use those? do you need a liner or something? i know it sounds like stupid questions but i have no clue!!!

Hi Sherri

There is no reason why you cannot continue to use Avent bottles. You have an added advantage in the fact your Lo is used to taking at bottle at the moment. I am not sure about the liner you are referring to?

I will try and find more information for about about weaning from breast to bottle, there are links somewhere.

I don't have any experience going from breast to bottle as DD was always bottle fed. But I can help you understand bottle feeding. You should be able to continue to use the same bottles. They don’t' need liners, unless they require them. You first need to choose a formula. If your child as has no problem with breast milk, I would start with a milk-based formula. Let me know if you need more information on formulas. I have a few links that describe the differences.

Hi Sherri

Lots of questions are good  ;)

The Hospital was using Enfamil a+ dha+ara he seemed not to have any problems with it at the time..Should i go back to that ?? If your Lo was confortable with that then there is no reason, I am not up on the brands of formula so Stacy will probably reply as well.

How many bottles should i have?? at 10 weeks I fed every 3 hours, so I  gave 8 bottles in a day. I was using haberman bottles and I think in total with other bottles I had 5 or 6. I just steralized then after use and made more milk.

I have well water should i sterilize it??bottles??  I always boil my kettle from tap water and leave it to cool for 45mins, I know there are different guidelines for different parts of the world. Again, I will get Stacy to clarify for you.

Hope this is OK.
