Any tips on how to get the most out of tanking up?
« on: April 03, 2006, 13:57:11 pm »
We're on 3 hour EASY  - usually, 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm and then I'm unsure of what to do with the cluster feed.
We have a bath at 6.30pm and then usually bottle and bed at 7pm.  I don't really want to change it to 6pm and 8pm as I'd like her in bed by 7pm ( I think that's late enough for a 4mo)
So when would the best time be to tank up?

If i feed at 5pm, DD only takes 50ml which then makes me think that it will spoil her appetite for her 7pm feed.

Do most babies take a full bottle at 4pm, 5pm and 7pm?

Also DD used to respond better to the DF by drinking all her milk but now she seems so sleepy she can only manage 50ml.

I'd love to know what you do to get the most out of tanking up.
Thanks

I also have a question. What if they are asleep at 6 and 8 do we wake them or wait?

With your schedule I would just feed at 4 and then 7 since she is four months old. Is there a reason for the tanking? Does she wake in the night?

Karen - How old is your LO? When my DD was young - Under two months, I would wake her to feed her. Once she was three months she was in bed by 7.

Thanks for your reply Leah's Mom,
DD was waking up at 4.30am and now she is going until 5.30am.  I usually feed her at 6am

Should we make the dream feed earlier then she may take more and sleep longer?

I don't know what time your DF is at. But my schedule was feed at 4, 6:30 and DF at 10. I just couldn't stay up any later than 10! A 6 am feed isn't too bad. We had that until DD was 9 months old.  ::)
