Thanks Lisa - likewise!  I have made myself sick with worry (this battle has been going on since DS was 5.5 weeks old!)

I was also wrong - he has just gone to bed on 1/2ounce - which makes his total for today 11!!

What advice have your HV's given you?  How long have you had this problem?

Having not eaten since 3.15pm yesterday(refused any of his 8.30pm bottle), he only took 4oz this morning.  I have also had to struggle with the next 2 feeds, both of which he had finally taken 4oz.  We have decided to try a soy formula in case he is trying to tell us he is lactose intolerant?!  Does any one know what symptoms they show when they have this intolerance, and how long we should give it before we may see an improvment in his feeding?

Thanks

desperate mum!

Symptoms
Many people with lactose intolerance have a particular tolerance level, which allows them to consume some lactose with minimal symptoms. Symptoms of lactose intolerance include:

    * Abdominal pain
    * Abdominal swelling
    * Flatulence
    * Diarrhoea.

Symptoms of lactose intolerance are often confused with symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). People with IBS are not lactose intolerant, but tend to have difficulty tolerating fat. If you think you may be lactose intolerant, see your doctor.

Thanks Lauren

I'll see how the last feed goes today.  Feeling very weepy about returning to work on Monday (and how on earth they will feed Gabe)

Hi Lauren

We got to 18ounces yesterday (which is 500ml, the very limited they should be taking).  I have not tried the soy milk yet, as have read from Yaya that it is sour, and don't know if I should try to add some sweetner to it first?

I am going to ask nursery how they find him and take it from there - DR won't take me seriously, as we have been there weekly for last 20 weeks.  They believe I have the problem, and DS is fine!  I feel I need another professional oppinion on it (from nursery ladies).

I am dreading tomorrow!

Hiya

Tommorow probably won't go as back as you think it will, in terms of returning to work. If the nursery ladies are any good, they will be letting you know whats going on with his feeding and they may have advise to offer. Are they going to be keeping a log of his days for you?

Have you tried another doctor? we have a 'baby' doctor at our practice.

Just come back from a trip to A&E - Gabriel rolled out of bed onto a hard wooded floor, he's okay, but now I feel even worse about tomorrow!!!!

Lou

Is he OK? Calum did this a couple of weeks ago and ended up on the floor, luckily we have carpet - but what a fright we all got.

He is fine, thanks, just a bit of a red mark - poor little things, and how stupid of us (me and DH!).  By the sounds of it, everyone does it once!

Dr's not great, no-one accepts there is a problem, as until 3 weeks ago he had been steadily gaining weight.  i think it will take for him to lose weight before anyone takes it seriously.  i'm going to try Lisa 1/2tsp sugar in his next feed and see how it goes!

Hi Lauren

Work was okay- thanks!  But nursery couldn't get him to drink milk, so he only took 12 ounces yesterday.  They said they have never had a baby like this!

Today not started well, only took 3 ounces, so imagine he will hardly take anything again today!

Getting DH to call HV today to run it past them, as I'm not taken seriously (they see me as a neurotic first time mum!).  Will see what they say.

Nightmare, don't understand this!
