QUESTION
« on: April 20, 2006, 19:25:37 pm »
What do I do if my lo falls asleep on his bottle and I cannot wake him to burp him.

Some days DS is so tired that he falls asleep on his night time bottle.  He falls into such a deep sleep that I cannot wake him to burp him.

I usually just put him down in his cot and let him sleep.

Sometimes he will wake up and burp then, and other times he will wake and there will be now burp at all.

Is this ok - or should I make sure that he burps before I put him down.

Oh he is just over 9 months old.

Thanks for your help.

Paula I have the same problem, tonight he conked out on me, when I tried to stand him up to wind him his legs collapsed under him  :-[  Instead I just help him upright against me and did it that way.  I don't pat his back to burp him any more, just standing him up straight does the same job.

Lauren,

I never burp Tom myself anymore, and usually if I just sit him up he will do it himself.

But when he conks out - there is nothing coming out.

I have tried standing him up and he just cries even though he is asleep.  I have tried rubbing his back and nothing.

He woke up a few minutes ago and I thought that he would bring some wind up, but still nothing - Do you not think that he would be bloated after a bottle?

It does not seem to worry him, but I was just curious.

Yes, I would have though they would be bloated and Calum has cried out after putting him to bed sometimes.
I though it was wind, but nothing came up - he's now been sleeping 50mins and I havn't heard a peep yet.

It maybe is the case they are more efficient eaters when tired and not a lot of air gets in. I also still use an anti-colic bottle so the air vents out the bottom of the bottle.

Perhaps that is the case - He has been asleep for nearly 2 1/2 hours now and when he did wake nothing came out, go gave him his dummy and he is flat out snoring his head off.

Oh well will see how it goes.
