swaddle/nap dilemma
« on: April 21, 2006, 02:44:16 am »
Hi. I am STILL trying to get rid of the darn swaddle, but I need some help. Gage can fall asleep fine without the Aussie Swaddle, but he only sleeps for 45 min. We tried naps without it for about a week and they all went to 45 min! I was at my wits end and then reswaddled....Whala long naps. This was about a month ago. I tried it again and still the same dillema. Has anyone been through this or have any advice?

Sorry I haven't been through it but, why again are you not swaddling if he likes it and he sleeps longer?  I would stick with what works  :)

hi, thanks for the response. I want to get rid of it for several reason: 1. It comes undone at night and he cant fall back to sleep. 2. It is almost summer and he will roast in it regadless of what he is wearing. 3. I am tired of it.... selfish I know.

I am having a swaddle dilemma myself.  My dd is 7 wks and from the beginning squirmed her little arms out of the swaddle...we probably should have stuck to our guns and kept them swaddled better but we didn't.  we swaddle her from the waist down.  she sleeps fine at night for the most part but i'm in nap training right now and i don't know if the swaddle is necessary.  this morning i swaddled her and she slept for about40 min.  but this time she was falling asleep so quickly i didn't want to wake her up by swaddling her nor did i want to waste time getting her into her basinet so she would fall asleep there and not in my arms---this is another HUGE dilemma i have.  i like the idea of not swaddling :0) esp w/ the warmer weather arriving.  i think of lo is tired he/she'll will sleep no matter what.  what do you think?

Hi Gage's Mom,
We have recently been through the same thing. We went cold turkey on the swaddle about two weeks ago (maybe a little longer). After two weeks and playing around with A times, we finally have long naps back. If you don't want to swaddle anymore, then I would suggest just stay consistent with it. Like newmommyl said, if they are tired, they will sleep.

Good luck.  ;)
