Can someone explain the allergy-thing to me??
« on: April 26, 2006, 11:14:31 am »
Hey guys,

It just occured to me that I actually don't understand why we do the allergy-waiting-test thing...is it that introducing certain foods early CAUSES an allergy, or that if our LO's have a latent allergy and they are exposed they are too young to be able to handle it well?

Sorry this question's a bit thick...I really hadn't thought too much about it before!

Thanks,

Sarah

Introducing high risk foods increases the babe's risk of developing an allergy.  More so if a parent has or had food allergies.  Sooo, we wait until lo's body is more likely to be able to handle a certain food to try it out.  Make sense?    ;D
