Homemade formula is not recommended. At least not here. Homemade formula's tend to not have the proper balance of nutrients for infants. I know formula used to be made with carnation evaporated milk and I know that its not good. Its loaded with fats and sugars babies don't need, its bad fats and a VERY high risk for obesity, diabetes and other health problems. My SIL did this because it was cheaper and she ended up with a VERY sick child. He still has health problems.
I'm not saying this just to scare you but there are a lot more importent things to worry about rather then formula taste. The formula tastes bad to us yes, but infants don't taste things the same way we do. They like it :) Don't worry, or make more work for yourself then you have to. You'll be busy enough. There's a reason formula's are ready made :) they're all balanced and as close to breastmilk as we can make, they'll never be breastmilk, but they're perfect for what your LO needs if breastmilk isn't available. There's standards for formula's and whats in them and how they're made. They're there to ensure the health of your child.
Homemade formula's should only be made (in my opinion) if you've tried every formula and non works. Talk to your doctor before you decide either way. I know you just want to do the best for your child. Just like the rest of us :)

good luck.

I just wanted to add that I read over the info in the link you added. I can't help but wonder, where is it from and who wrote it.(doctors, midwifes, or mothers)
Some of the info there just doesn't sound or feel right. I suggest you print it up and take it to your doctor. Especially the part that says egg yokes are supposed to be babies first food. Thats not true, cereals are first at 6 months, then veggies and fruit at 6-7 months, meat and alternatives(egg yokes includes) at 8 months, milk products at 9 months. At least thats how it is in Canada, also I would be seriousely concerned about giving raw or uncaltured milk to an infant. It just doesn't sound safe to me.  I think you should really take it to your doctor first. He/she will help you.

YES!  My grandmother used to make formula from this for my mother and her sibs!  Thank goodness for progress!

Although as you can guess from my mod position I'm no formula expert I would certainly say that the expertise and effort that goes into developing safe formula cannot be matched by a mum at home with a teaspoon. It's difficult to know that the source of all those ingredients are free from contaminants (gelatin, sunflower oil, coconut oi, olive oil, fish oill) and the manufacturers will not have developed them with babies in mind. Gelatin is made from some pretty scary stuff in the UK anyway!

 :o

That home made stuff looks like a dangerous concoction to me.. all of the other posters are so right in what they say..

Our babes are far too precious to mess about with their milk - if we can't breast feed then we need to know that what we are giving them is balanced and as pure as it can be and that someone has rigourously checked this for us..
