Time of dream-feed
« on: May 11, 2006, 19:39:19 pm »
Hi!  My dd is 8 1/2 months old and has 3 breastfeeds + a dreamfeed (bf) each day.  This Saturday we're going out (yippee!!!) and I won't be around for her normal dreamfeed time.  Should I give it to her when we get back?  (About midnight probably.)  Or just see what happens if I miss it completely?  I don't really want to prepare a bottle of ebm since she's not used to that at night-time at all and it may wake her and totally unsettle her.
Any suggestions?  Thanks.
Vicky

I would be inclined to leave it and see what happens!  Who knows, this may be the start of no night feeds!!  Is she eating her solids well?  I dropped the DF for both my daugters shortly before 7m.

Hello.

I'm a newbie, so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong thread. I have had a look around to see if I can see where to post, or if I can find an answer to my question, but have had no luck. Please point me in the right direction if I am completely off course.

Can someone please explain the Dreamfeed and Cluster feed to me. I'm sure my brain has turned to cauliflower with this preganacy as I can't seem to get my head around it. There's also the Tanking Up feed which is confusing me too  ???

I'm sure there is a very simple explanation to this  :-\

Thank you.  :)

It is all explained in the Baby Whisperer book by Tracy Hogg.  Have you read it?  I would suggest doing so if you haven't.  It explains all of these terms.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Jodie and Denise for the suggestions.  She is LOVING her solids and for the last ten days or so, I've felt like I just can't keep up with her!  I'll do as you suggest and leave the dream-feed and see what happens.  Actually, I'm not going to do it tonight either... hopefully she'll sleep through without problems and then perhaps I'll even feel confident to have a couple of beers tomorrow night!
Thanks again.

Just to let you know that dd had no dream-feed on Friday and was fine on waking at her normal time (although she breastfed for longer than normal, I guess to make up for no df).  And again no dream-feed on Saturday and slept through till normal.  So that's one more feed dropped!  We're down to justthree a day now.  :-(  I think I'll miss the dream-feed; it was always so calm and relaxing and I'd love it that she'd sleep in my arms at these times.  Such is the change that time and growing-up brings!  Thanks again to all for your advice.  Vicky. x

That is great news!  Just think how many consecutive hours sleep you could get now!  Ahhhhhh!

P.S.  I hope you had a beer or two!    ;)
