to wake him or no?
« on: May 11, 2006, 21:24:13 pm »
So we have trying to put EASY into our lives from Monday. Today he really did not liked his naps. Eat about 7, 9, 11 and 13, longest nap he took was from 12-13, other naps were about 10-30 minutes. And then fell asleep about 2.30p.m.. And right now it is almost 5.30 p.m and I am going to wake him up. I am just confused, should I have let him sleep that long or wake him up earlier. And what to do about days, when he just cannot settle??Usually he eats about every 3 hours, but today as he cannot get to his naps and was really crying it came out as every 2 jours this morning.

Hiya

As Ciara is nearly 3, 4 weeks old is too far back for me to remember things with much accuracy.  What I do remember is that we 'let' her sleep whenever she wanted until she was 8 weeks old.  I remember her sleeping really late in the day for her naps.  We didn't introduce easy until she was 8 weeks, but even then she still used to have her last nap around 4 ish I think - at that point she was taking 5 naps a day.

Sorry I have no experience with introducing easy at 4 weeks, so hopefully you will get some other advice on that.  One of the main things you could be focusing on is getting your lo to sleep without developing the feed/sleep association so if you are there then you are doing great.

The other thing that really helped me when Ciara was that small was the post by theo's mum - how i got thru the first 3 months.  It's at the top of this board.

Good luck xx

This was pretty hard to get him up from nap yesterday.Got him wide enough to eat around 6, when he eat for 10 minutes, then stopped and fall again kind of to sleep and then 7 wanted to eat again. Was awake then and 8 finally fell asleep again. For night or so I thought.10 p.m. was up again and then eat and was hard to get back to sleep. 11.15p.m. we were both out. And then woke this morning 5.15 and eat, almost fell asleep but needed shushing about 5.50 and about 6 was out. And now I am confused how to start our day again. Probably it needs to start about 8 , because I doubt he will want to eat 7. Any advise?

Geez, it's so hard when they are that young.  To be honest, I can't remember the in's and out's of our day at that age, and like I said Ciara didn't start with easy til she was 8 weeks or so.

The EASY forum might give you some ideas on understanding your lo's day and getting some routines established.  You could probably also post an example of your day and ask for advice/tips on schedules there.  There are lots of posts on implementing easy with babies under 3 months so hopefully you'll get some info there.
